Why Manifold Mounting Makes This Compact Hydraulic Cylinder a Game-Changer
At Mack Automation, we build a lot of custom actuators. But one design we keep coming back to—because customers love it—is our compact, double-acting, double-ended hydraulic cylinder with direct manifold mounting.

This style of cylinder is built for performance in tight spaces. Whether you’re integrating into a robotic arm, a high-speed production cell, or a custom fixture, this actuator helps simplify the layout by eliminating bulky external fittings and hoses.
Manifold Mounting — Cleaner, Simpler, Stronger
Instead of traditional side ports or threaded end caps, this actuator uses O-ring face seals and bolts directly to a manifold block. That means:
-
No more leaky fittings
-
No clearance issues with side ports
-
Fewer components to assemble
-
Faster maintenance and changeouts
The cylinder body is sealed flat against your manifold surface, and hydraulic fluid flows directly into the cylinder through ports machined into the mounting block.
A Through-Hole Rod — For Whatever You Need It To Do
This design also features a hollow piston rod—a through-hole that runs the length of the actuator. Depending on your application, that could mean:
-
Vacuum or air pass-through
-
Wiring or sensor routing
-
Fluid delivery
-
Or a clever mechanical function specific to your tooling
We’ve seen customers use it in all kinds of creative ways.
Built to Order, Built to Fit
Every actuator is precision-machined for long service life. We can customize port patterns, bore sizes, and stroke lengths to match your application. If you’ve got a manifold layout in mind, send it over—we’ll build the cylinder to match.
