Typically you find pipe thread ports on our miniature pneumatic cylinders, as shown below. In this case the customer requested an unconventional porting structure. A flat was machined on the side of the cylinder and a fluid inlet hole with o-ring groove was machined on the flat, as shown. The cylinder will be dropped into a pocket in the users sctructure where it will be mated directly to a fluid/air passage way. This is a space saving design choice and eliminates the need for fittings or hoses directly at the cylinder.
